Rounder of Justice

"Roundy"

February 21, 1996 - August 5, 2003

In Memory of Leslie T. Justice (nickname - Roundy)

Nathan's father died in 1996, we got "Roundy" and gave him this name.

Roundy was one of the most intelligent companions we have ever loved.  He was trained to go outside to potty by our Cocker Spaniel, "Bear".  While we were at work, he and Bear stayed at our daughter's house.

Roundy loved our boat and fishing.  He had his own seat and all knew not to sit in his seat.  He knew the sound of a reel when a halibut would hook up; out of the cabin he would come and up on the side of the boat to see how big the fish was.  He and Bear were photographed many times by visitors to Alaska as we waited to launch at Deep Creek.

Roundy loved the outdoors.  Hiking through the woods was a favorite.  He would run ahead, but always came back to see if we were following.

Bear is deaf and Roundy was his ears.  When it was time to go outside, he would give Bear a gentle nudge.  If Bear strayed too far away from the house, Roundy would go find him and bring him home.  Every morning, Roundy would run the perimeter of our property.  That was his morning wake up.

Roundy loved presents, of any kind, and he opened them himself.  He was such a joy at Christmas.  He opened his presents with the same enthusiasm as any human.  He really made Christmas a thrill for our entire family.

Roundy suffered from a rare kind of cancer for a male dog.  He had many surgeries and spent a lot of time in the hospital.  He was loved by all that had contact with him.  He was called a gentlemen's, gentlemen!  His final surgery was a scrotal urethreostomy.  Even though he pottied like a female, he still lifted his leg like the fine man he was.  We are so grateful to Dr. Michael Edwards and staff for giving us 8 more months with Roundy.

On August 5, 2003, a beautiful day in Alaska, we decided to sit outside and let Roundy, Toby and Molly play.  Roundy saw his favorite ball in the shed; he had to have it.  We were watching them have so much fun.  Roundy made a funny little noise, walked a few feet and laid down.  We got to him just as he took his last breath.  What a beautiful way to go; doing what he enjoyed the most.

Roundy is buried in our back yard under a tree, our puppies know he is there------Gone but never forgotten------Our Love
